2019 Honda CR-V: What Else Can You Buy?

Honda recently launched the all-new 2019 CR-V. Before you book one, here are a few alternatives for the mid-size crossover.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, Honda unveiled the new 2019 CR-V in Abu Dhabi. The updated iteration of the new CR-V comes gowned in a new powertrain and chassis.

The updated model comes with a 2.4-litre DOHC i-VTEC motor that delivers 184hp and 244Nm of torque through a CVT gearbox. The company claims a fuel efficiency of 15.5kpl for the base trims and 14.7kpl for the EX and Touring variants.

Other notable features on the new model are the new suspensions, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and an optional 18-inch based on the trim, and an optional all-wheel-drive on the top models.

As for safety, you can be assured the Honda CR-V is one of the best safety-packed cars in its segment with traction control, vehicle stability assists, ABS, EBD, handling assist, TPMS, and hill start assist. LX, EX, and Touring trims get rear parking sensors.

While the price for the new model has not been unveiled, here are a few alternatives that you can check before buying one.

2019 Nissan X-Trail

Over the course of time, Nissan has scooped a reputable position in the SUV segment in the UAE. For the ones who thought the Patrol was an overkill, Nissan graced them with the X-Trail.

The X-Trail is powered by a 2.5-litre inline-four engine that churns out 169hp and 233Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. It takes about 10 seconds for the X-Trail to reach 100kph with a top speed of 170kph.

Adding to the safety of the X-Trail are six airbags, Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBA), ISO Fix Child Seat Anchors, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), front seatbelt pre-tensioners and Anti-lock brake system (ABS). On the inside, Nissan has graced the X-Trail with Map reading lamps, Rear AC vents, trip computer and multi-information display.

2019 Toyota RAV4

The fifth generation RAV4 is a stylish, urban crossover that is still faithfully spacious for families.

It uses a smaller, 1.3-litre inline-four engine that makes more power than the American crossover. Rated at 177hp and 238Nm, this car cracks the ton in 9.5 seconds, topping out at 201kph. Toyota has offered standard four-wheel-drive on all trims of the RAV4.

Both the Toyota RAV4 and GMC Terrain are neck-to-neck in this regard. The Toyota comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation. Toyota has yet to add Android Auto to its list of infotainment features but has Apple CarPlay integration as well as Alexa. The Toyota RAV4 might not be as feature-loaded as the Terrain, but it offers a bigger touchscreen than its rival, plus minimalist interiors.

Modern cars in UAE are loaded with a cohesive web of safety technology. The Toyota RAV4 is no different, offering ABS, EBD, eight airbags, cruise control, ESP, parking sensors on both ends, and hill start assist.

2019 Ford Escape

The 2019 Ford Escape is powered by a 2.5-litre inline-four engine that produces 168hp and 230Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and supplies the power to the front wheels. However, an optional Intelligent Four Wheel Drive can be availed for a few extra bucks.

The base variant of Explorer comes equipped with seven airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Anti-theft Alarm, Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Hill Assist, ISO Fix Child Seat Anchors, Rollover Stability Control, Rear Camera, Tyre Pressure Monitoring Display and Dynamic Stability Control.

Other notable features on the Escape include steering-mounted audio controls, AUX, CD Player, USB, Radio and Cruise Control.

2019 Renault Koleos

At the heart of 2019, Renault Koleos is a 2.5-litre inline-four engine that puts out 170hp and 233Nm of torque through a six-speed automatic transmission. It reaches triple-digit speeds in about 9.5 seconds with a top speed of 185kph.

The new Koleos comes with a host of driving assist system and safety features including Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Anti-theft alarm, Brake Assist (BA), Hill Assist, ISO Fix Child Seat Anchors, front and rear parking sensors, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, tyre-pressure monitor, traction control, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).

Inside, the infotainment system comes with AUX, CD Player, Bluetooth, CD Player, MP3, Radio, navigation system, USB and steering-mounted audio controls.

2019 GMC Terrain

The second-generation 2019 GMC Terrain is far removed from its previous boxy profile, donning a swoopy, modern design.

The base SLE trim of the GMC Terrain is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four motor making 170hp and 275Nm. It is coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels, propelling the Terrain past 100kph in 9.2 seconds. Top speed stands at 200kph.

The 2019 GMC Terrain is well-equipped, offering both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay across all trims. There is a premium audio system in place so you could enjoy your favourite tunes with a high-quality output from the speakers.
