The British sure knows how to party. To commemorate 70 years of its proud racing heritage, Jaguar has developed a new F-TYPE by throwing in some meaner upgrades to its already-insane F-TYPE.
Our first impression of the new rally sports iteration was a two-word definition saying ‘mind-boggling’. Not only did Jaguar choose one of the angriest engines in its line-up but decided to tune it for non-asphalt purposes.
The inspiration for the new F-TYPE traces back to the British automaker’s first race car, XK120. We learnt that Jaguar has already put their cars through its paces at the Walters Arena rally stage in the south of Wales and is expected to make an appearance at a number of upcoming Jaguar events.
The special edition F-TYPE is made in compliance with FIA homologation rules for rallying, calling for an F-TYPE’s entry-level 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces a peak of 300bhp.
The livery and decals of the new car resemble that of the recently revealed Jaguar F-TYPE Chequered Flag featuring which features a range of subtle exterior visual enhancements, including unique 20-inch Gloss Black wheels with a Diamond Turned finish and a Black Contrast roof on the Coupé. Inside, the luxurious Ebony Windsor Leather interior features Performance seats with embossed Chequered Flag headrests and a Dark Brushed Aluminium centre console trim finisher.
On the mechanical side, Jaguar has upgraded the brakes, suspensions and the drivetrain, including the addition of grooved discs with four-piston callipers front and rear. The car also features a three-way adjustable dampers that allow terrain-specific tuning for maximum performance.
The motorsport-spec wheels and tyres specifically for use on gravel along with a limited-slip differential improve power delivery on loose surfaces while a hydraulic handbrake helps drivers tackle hairpin bends.
