Tesla always manages to be in the news, whether it’s for the positives or negatives. This time it’s in the headlines because of a few reports that suggest that it is planning to start the production of its Model Y in next year.

Tesla Model Y is an SUV, and it would hit the production line in Nov 2019. Tesla remains very confidential about its vehicles, research and future plans. However, it has released information which tells us that it is accepting preliminary bids for supplier contracts on the Model Y.

It is quite normal for automobile manufacturers to select part suppliers at least 2-2.5 years prior to the commencement of production. In Tesla’s case, considering the fact that it wants to start the production of Model Y by Nov 2019, this date is somewhere around 1-1.5 years away. This puts the entire acquiring process a bit aggressive.

The new Model Y would be produced at Tesla’s plant located at Fremont, California. The start of the production of Model Y would begin from this plant, and two years later the production will take place in China.

Tesla revealed the Model 3 in July last year and received an advance order of 500,000 units. However, Tesla has failed to comply with the delivery timelines as promised. Recently it said that the weekly production of Model 3 has increased to twice the quantity that in the first quarter, and is expected to rise further in the future.

Tesla also revealed its Roadster and Semi last year and created a stir in the automobile industry. There were mixed reactions from all around the world. Considering the history of Tesla when it comes to delivering as per schedule, we’ll have to see what it does with its new revelations and with the new Model Y.
